Accessibility of the venue
The University offers comprehensive information on accessibility of buildings and rooms, keys for accessible toilets, tactile paving, accessible parking etc. on a dedicated website that is currently only available in German. We know that this is not ideal, so please feel free to contact us with any questions. Some aspects:
- The main building and the rooms where our event takes place are accessible without stairs, with elevators, or with a stair lift.
- The stair lifts and the accessible toilets can be used with an eurokey.
- The main building has tactile paving.
- There is accessible parking directly in front of the main entrance. For further information on accessible parking, visit the Official Vienna City Map and select "Karteninhalt" → "Parken" → “Behindertenparkplätze”.

If you need barrier-free accommodation, the Vienna Tourist Board offers specialised information on their website, via chat, phone, and email.

After registration, you will receive an email containing some suggestions for hotels the University of Vienna has a contract with.
We invite you to submit proposals for posters and poster pitches at the Fellowship of the Data 2026! For more information, see also the Call for Posters.
- What is the deadline? Deadline for submissions through our submission portal is June 15.
- When will I be informed if my poster was accepted? By July 10.
- What are technical and administrative requirements? Title length: Maximum 20 words. Abstract length: 150-200 words. Poster size: vertical A0 (84.1 x 118.9cm). Duration of poster pitch: 1 minute. Language: English
- When does the poster need to be ready? You just need to bring the printed version to the venue on Day 1 to hang it up. You are invited to add your digital version to our Zenodo Community.
- Do I need to bring a slide for my poster pitch? No, we will provide one with your name and the poster title.
- Is there a conference fee? To help cover catering costs for the conference, we kindly request a participation fee of 120 EUR from all attendees. Thank you for your understanding and support!
- I will have a poster or poster pitch. Does that mean I don't have to pay the fee? No, sorry, that's not possible.
- Will there be vegetarian and vegan options? Yes. Our Catering ist organic and vegetarian/vegan. Allergens will be disclosed. Please enter any dietary requirements during registration, and we will do our best to accommodate them.
- Is the Fellowship of the Data Meeting a purely Austrian or an international event? It is an international event with speakers, panelists, and organisers from several countries.
- I need an official invitation that confirms my participation for local authorities / my employer. How does this work? Please send us an email at datafellows.ub@univie.ac.at. Our congress service will provide an invitation.
- Can I participate online? No, the event is on-site only. The talks will not be recorded, but we invite all speakers and presenters to upload their material to our Zenodo community. We also welcome posting about the festival on social media #datafellows.
- When and how can I register? Registration is open until August 31st! Please use this link to register for the meeting and the side event: https://univie.eventsair.com/datafellows2026/regregularen
- Where do I register as a keynote speaker or invited panelist? Please use the link for complimentary registration that was sent to you by the organising team.
- What about hotels? After registration, you will receive a confirmation that also contains some suggestions for hotels where the University of Vienna has a contract with.
- Are you on Social Media? We are, and we are also happy to see you post about our festival!

- Where can I put my outer wear and suitcases? Near the rooms the event takes place in, there are lockers with a 2 EUR coin deposit. You might need to take larger bags and suitcases with you into the lecture halls/seminar rooms. The lockers need to be emptied daily, so you can't use them over night.
- How will the weather be in Vienna? You can find current weather and a forecast for the next days on the weather page of the Austrian broadcasting corporation ORF. The most relevant weather station is Wien-Innere Stadt.
- Where has the Fellowship of the Data taken place before? Former iterations were in Berlin (2023) and Jena (2025).
- Where can I find material from earlier events? in our Zenodo community.
- Is there free WLAN? Yes. There are three options:
- In the main building, we provide eduroam.
- You will receive the login for a WLAN guest account when checking in.
- There is also a hotspot by the City of Vienna free WLAN (StadtWien-PublicWLAN).
- Where is the DataFellows Zenodo community? You can find it on https://zenodo.org/communities/datafellows/. Here you find contributions to former Community Meetings, incl. the 2025 Book of Abstracts, and submit your own contributions.
- How do I add my contributions to a community? See the “Submit to community” page on Zenodo. In short, you publish the record first and then submit it to a community.
